To many, ‘credit card’ is an ugly phrase that means exorbitant interest rates, poor lending rules and in one-word trouble. It doesn’t have to be like that. If you are someone who is in control of their finances and says they don’t need a credit card. Then you are the exact person who should get one. If you are financially savvy a credit card can be just another step to financial freedom.

By owning a credit card it, of course, gives you the convenience of being able to make payments in most places, online or in the real world. It also allows you to cover expenses that you aren’t able to cover at that moment. If you need to repair your car but don’t get paid for a week then paying with your credit card and repaying that bill one week later is harmless.

Yet the real benefits come when you use your credit card for day to day payments. Banks want you to get used to the idea of using your credit and they are willing to give you lots of special treatment to make you do it.

Using your credit card can result in vouchers for petrol, flights and cashback deals. More than that credit card companies often have affiliations with insurers and more. That means that you can get car insurance, product insurance, and more just by using your credit card.

When choosing your credit card make sure you shop around for the best benefits and rewards. Those with a higher interest rate are likely not a concern for you if you have good credit. Take the high-interest rate (and never go into credit debt) and take the rewards that come up with.

This may sound too good to be true but consider the entire market. The majority of people are in debt and can’t control their debt. Those people’s loss is your gain. You have been financially smart for years and it is time to reap the rewards.
